NOTICE OF RACE

 

 

ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The racing is organized by the Platu National Class Association in conjunction with Ocean Marina Yacht Club under the auspices of the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand. They will be held in the waters off the Ocean Marina, Na-Jomtien, Thailand.

The series shall consist of four individual regattas for which individual trophies shall be awarded.  This Notice of Race shall cover the individual regattas as well as the overall series.

1. RULES

1.1 The Regatta will be governed by:

The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS),

No national prescriptions shall apply.

The Platu 25 Class Rules 2008 as amended by the NCA of Thailand.

This Notice of Race as amended by the Sailing Instructions.

1.2 Between the hours of local sunset and sunrise the International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea shall apply.

1.3 The ISAF Special Regulations Appendix J, Category 5 Special Regulations shall apply to all yachts.  These shall include, but may not be restricted to the following: yachts must carry an suitable engine and adequate fuel, anchor and towing lines as well as lifejackets for all crew. The participating yachts must adhere to reporting schedules, minimum drinking water requirements, if any. Additional safety rules, if any, will be available from the organizing committee before the each weekend of racing.

1.4 All yachts must have a functioning VHF Marine Band Radio, capable of monitoring channels 16 and 72.

1.5 Advertising on a boat or by its crew is permitted in accordance with the ISAF advertising code, formerly known as Category C.

1.6 The Organizing Committee may require all participating boats to display the event sponsor's advertising on the first 20% percent of the hull and the first 20% of the mainsail boom plus a sponsor's flag of maximum size 500 mm x 750 mm on the backstay.

1.7 The Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The series and each Regatta shall be open to all sailors irrespective of nationality in International Platu 25 Class Yachts. 

2.3 Application for entry shall be made at Ocean Marina Yacht Club latest 3 hour prior to the start of the first race of each of the regattas, except for the Coronation Cup 2010 where the registration must be made between 10.00 and 18:30 on 30th April, 2010.

The entry fee per yacht will be:

Baht 7,500 for skipper and yacht for the OPEN Championship plus Baht 800 per crew party costs.

Baht 7,500 for skipper and yacht for the Coronation Cup plus Baht 1,500 per crew party costs.

Baht 2,800 for skipper and yacht for the Platu Cup plus Baht 800 per crew party costs.

Baht 5,000 for skipper and yacht for the Thailand Platu NATIONAL Championships plus Baht 800 per crew party costs.

3. SCHEDULE OF REGATTAS

This is the proposed schedule for these events. However the Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend this schedule.

4. COURSES.

The racing area will be in front of the Ocean Marina.   A description of courses to be used will be issued at least one hour prior to the first warning signal of the day.  The courses will be inshore or coastal at the discretion of the organizers. The course(s) will be chosen to take into account the prevailing, or forecasted weather conditions on the day of the race.

5. SCORING

5.1 The Series will be scored as provided in Appendix A of the Racing Rules using the Low Point system.

For the individual Regattas three races shall be completed to constitute a series.

A drop rate of 20% shall apply, ie. if 5 races per regatta are completed one discard will be allowed.

For the overall One Design Platu Championship Series 2010 the placing of each yacht in each of the four regattas will be considered with one discard allowed. 

5.2 Yachts in the Regattas shall be scored based on their team name.

5.3 For the overall One Design Platu Championship Series 2010 the organizing committee reserves the right to allow change of boats/skippers from Regatta to Regatta.

6. CLASS SYSTEM

6.1 The Platu 25 Class Rules as amended by the the National Class Association shall apply. 

7. INSPECTION

All yachts shall be liable for inspection in accordance with applicable safety and measurement requirements.

8. JURY

8.1 A Jury shall be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix M.

8.2 Decisions of the jury shall be final as provided in rule 70.5.

9. AWARDS FOR THE SERIES AND EACH REGATTA

9.1 A trophy will be awarded to the overall winning yacht.

9.2 Second and third place prizes will also be awarded.

9.3 For the Platu National Championship 2010 only yachts including at least one Thai resident or Thai National will be counted for the overall National Championship results.

10.0 DISCLAIMER

10.1 The Organizing Committee, the Race Committee, the Regatta sponsors and their representatives, officers, members and volunteers accept no liability whatsoever for any loss of life, property, personal injury, or damage caused by or arising out of the Regatta. Participants compete entirely at their own risk.

10.2 The Yacht Racing Association of Thailand hereby prescribes that, advertising is allowed pursuant to the ISAF Advertising Code, formerly known as Category C.  However, prior approval of the Organizing Committee of the Regattas shall be required for any advertising in addition to that permitted by ISAF.

10.3 Without limitation, the Organizing Committee is expected to disapprove any advertising it deems in conflict with Thai laws or customs and may disapprove advertising in conflict with the products of event sponsors.
